German automaker Volkswagen has made the world premiere of its all-new Volkswagen ID.Aero electric sedan in China. The family will be the flagship EV in the German carmaker’s ID global portfolio. Volkswagen says that its first fully electric sedan will positioned in the premium mid-size segment. In addition, the production version of ID.Aero for the Chinese markets is expected to go on sale in the second half of 2023.

The upcoming Volkswagen ID.Aero will get a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The battery will offer a WLTP-certified range of 620 kms on a full charge. When launched, this electric sedan will take on cars like the BMW i4, Tesla Model 3.
Volkswagen plans to start production of the European series version in Emden in 2023. This full electric four-door production model of this sedan will offered worldwide in the future. New Volkswagen ID.Aero Electric Sedan Car ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.6 and the ID after the iconic ID Buzz. Is the sixth member of the family.

Design.
The concept version of the ID.Aero is about five meters tall and the company claims that its design is based on aerodynamic principles. The ID.AERO is based on Volkswagen Group’s MEB (Modular Electric Drive Matrix) architecture. This flexible modular platform can used from hatchback cars to ID. The BUZZ van can be used for a wide variety of vehicles.
“With the ID.AERO show car we are revealing a preview of the next member of the ID family,” says Ralph Brandstadter, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars. He further added, “Car with an emotional as well as highly aerodynamic design, a range of over 600 kms, spacious space and premium interiors. With our accelerated strategy, we are vigorously pursuing the electrification of our model range. This model will be our next global car for Europe, China and America after ID.4.
