Mithali’s full name is Mithali Raj Dorai. Born on December 3, 1982, in a Tamil family of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Mithali inherited cricket from her father. Mithali’s father Dheeraj Raj Dorai was a pilot in the Indian Air Force. Her father also liked playing cricket from the very beginning. Although Mithali was not always interested in cricket. Coming from a Tamil family, Mithali wanted to become a Kathak dancer as a child. Its effect was that at the age of just 8, she became an expert in classical dance. However, later Mithali’s father started finding the daughter a bit lazy, so he started taking Mithali to play cricket with him. When she was only 16 years old. She played his first match in 1999 against Ireland. However, even before her cricket debut, in 1997, her name was included in the probables for the Women’s Cricket World Cup. But due to some reason she did not get a place in the World Cup. Mithali scored 114 not out in her first match. Mithali Raj played her first test match on 14 January 2002 against England in Lucknow and in her third test match itself she played a historic innings of 214 not out.
During her brilliant innings, she broke Karen Rolton’s record of 209 runs. Mithali is the first Indian woman cricketer to score more than 5500 runs in ODIs.
