Mithali Raj Retirement : Mithali Raj, famous in the world of cricket by the name of Lady Sachin, has retired from all forms of international cricket on Wednesday. She has announced this on her Twitter handle. Mithali has thanked everyone for their love and support through her tweet. Mithali has played 232 matches so far in her career, in which she has scored 7,085 runs. Mithali made her debut in an ODI against Ireland in June 1999. Also captained India in the ICC Women’s World Cup in New Zealand earlier this year, where India failed to qualify for the semi-finals.

Dreamed of becoming a Kathak dancer in childhood
Mithali’s full name is Mithali Raj Dorai. Born on December 3, 1982, in a Tamil family of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Mithali inherited cricket from her father. Mithali’s father Dheeraj Raj Dorai was a pilot in the Indian Air Force. Her father also liked playing cricket from the very beginning. Although Mithali was not always interested in cricket. Coming from a Tamil family, Mithali wanted to become a Kathak dancer as a child. Its effect was that at the age of just 8, she became an expert in classical dance. However, later Mithali’s father started finding the daughter a bit lazy, so he started taking Mithali to play cricket with him. Mithali also became interested in cricket while playing slowly with her father. Then it is that day, and today’s Mithali is known by the whole world in the name of cricket.

Mithali Raj started her professional career in cricket then.
When she was only 16 years old. She played his first match in 1999 against Ireland. However, even before her cricket debut, in 1997, her name was included in the probables for the Women’s Cricket World Cup. But due to some reason she did not get a place in the World Cup. Mithali scored 114 not out in her first match. Mithali Raj played her first test match on 14 January 2002 against England in Lucknow and in her third test match itself she played a historic innings of 214 not out.
During her brilliant innings, she broke Karen Rolton’s record of 209 runs. Mithali is the first Indian woman cricketer to score more than 5500 runs in ODIs. Apart from this, she has also captained India in most matches. Her high score in test matches is 214 runs. Apart from Test and ODI matches, Mithali Raj has also played 89 T20 matches.
Mithali has also received many awards for her strong game.
In 2003, she has been awarded the Arjuna Award by the Government of India. Apart from this, she has also received Padma Shri in 2015. She has also won the Youth Sports Icon of Excellence Award in 2017. Apart from this, Mithali has made many achievements in her name.
