Honda may soon launch Honda U-Go electric scooter in India, know range, features and price.

Japan’s leading automaker Honda may soon bring an affordable electric scooter to the Indian market. The electric scooter Honda U-Go was launched in China last year and soon after, the Japanese manufacturer filed a patent for the scooter in India as well. The patent was registered in August of 2021 and is now journaled. The company had announced its intention to make eco-friendly vehicles and bring electric vehicles in India. Honda U-Go could be part of plans to bring in affordable electric two-wheelers and create an ecosystem for this green technology.

The Honda U-Go is a slim and lightweight e-scooter that follows a minimalist design philosophy. It gets a modern looking headlamp cluster on the apron along with LED DRLs all around. Turn indicators are provided in the slim top section. The profile of the U-Go is simple and looks utilitarian. However, it gets smart alloy wheels and gets telescopic forks up front and twin spring suspension at the rear.

Battery and motor.

In the global market, the U-GO comes in two variants. One gets 1.6 bhp electric motor. While the second has a low power 1 bhp motor. Obviously the Honda U-GO is a slow speed scooter. It comes with a hub-mounted motor. Both the variants come with a 48V and 30Ah removable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1.44 kWh. The battery pack found in both the models can removed from the scooter. This allows customers to take the battery home and charge it comfortably. The range can extended by having more than one battery pack.

Range.

This electric scooter boasts of a range of 65 km on a full charge. Which is slightly less than most of the flagship EVs available in India right now. The range can doubled to 130 km by adding a second battery pack.

Speed.

The top speed of the top model is 53 kmph. While the top speed of the standard model is 43 kmph. This makes it a hassle free option for short distance movement.

Features.

The scooter has an LCD screen, which gives information like speed, distance, charge and riding mode. It gets an LED headlight with triple beam on the front apron. It also includes an LED DRLs strip. It gets 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels. Both the models get a bigger storage space of 26-litres.

worth.

The standard model of Honda U-GO is priced at 7,499 Chinese Yuan (approximately Rs 85,342) and the top-end variant is priced at 7,999 Chinese Yuan (approximately Rs 91,501). Its price in the Chinese market is much lower than other e-scooters.
