Jeep India on Thursday officially launched its much-awaited three-row SUV Meridian in the country. The starting ex-showroom price of Jeep Meridian SUV has kept at Rs 29.90 lakh for the base variant with manual transmission. The top-of-the-line variant with automatic transmission has priced at Rs 36.95 lakh, ex-showroom. Jeep India believes that at this competitive price point, this SUV will give tough competition to its rivals.

The look of the Jeep Meridian SUV is reminiscent of the Jeep Compass SUV. It reflects the signature design language of the carmaker. Along with this, many effects of Jeep Compass and Grand Cherokee SUV are seen in this. But it will be a very modern and luxurious SUV against them. Jeep Meridian will be launched in India to compete with SUVs like MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq and Toyota Fortuner.

Booking Details.

The company started booking the Jeep Meridian SUV long back. Buyers wishing to buy this SUV can book Meridian by paying a token amount of Rs 50,000 at a Jeep dealership or on the company’s official website.

Great look and design.

In terms of look and design, the Jeep Meridian SUV bears the signature design language of the carmaker. Along with this, the imprint of the Jeep Compass and Grand Cherokee SUV is also visible in it. Up front, the Meridian gets bi-function LED headlamps, an attractive bumper with integrated LED daytime running lights, iconic seven-slat grille with LED fog lamps.

Coming to the side profile, the SUV gets body cladding, integrated roof rails on either side of the panoramic sunroof. It gets bigger rear overhand and bigger rear doors than the Jeep Compass. At the rear, the SUV gets horizontal LED taillights, rear wiper and washer and integrated rear spoiler. This SUV gets 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Engine and gearbox.

The Jeep Meridian gets a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which is also offered in the Compass SUV. This engine generates maximum power of 170 bhp and torque of 350 Nm. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard with this engine. This SUV will get both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive system. Front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) systems are mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. No petrol engine option is available with the SUV.

Drive mode and speed.

Meridian will offered with three drive modes – Snow, Sand/Mud and Auto. This SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 10.8 seconds and has a top speed of 198 kmph.
