As a 5.8 Richter earthquake rocks Nepal, strong tremors are felt in Delhi.


The Earthquake struck at 2:28 pm with the epicenter in Nepal at a place 148 km east of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand, the National Centre for Seismology said. 

Strong tremors felt in parts of Delhi and the National Capital area Tuesday.

The Earthquake lasted for at least 15 seconds, with people seen rushing out of their homes and offices. According to the National Centre of Seismology, the epicenter of the earthquake  centered in Nepal.

The quake was at a depth of 10 km.

Social media users in Delhi and  their surroundings said they felt strong tremors that shook ceiling fans and other hanging objects.

Tremors felt in parts of Rajasthan’s capital city of Jaipur as well. There was no immediate report of loss of life or property from there.
