Anant Ambani, Radhika Merchant get engaged at Antilia; see photos

Anant Ambani, the youngest son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, proposed to Radhika Merchant on Thursday at Antilia.

The couple had a traditional engagement ceremony where they performed old Gujarati rituals such as Gol Dhana and Chunari Vidhi.

In Gujarati tradition, Gol Dhana is a pre-wedding ceremony that serves as a form of engagement. Dhana is coriander seeds and Gol is jaggery.

These items are distributed at the groom’s residence, where the event is held.

The bride’s family arrives at the groom’s house bearing gifts and sweets, and the couple exchanges ring. Following the exchange of rings, the couple seeks blessings from their elders.

The Ambani family greeted the Merchant family at their residence with aarti and mantra chanting.

Anant and Radhika have known each other for a few years, and their engagement ceremony brought them one step closer to their upcoming marriage.

Soon after their engagement ceremony, the couple was photographed in traditional attire with members of their family.

The couple recently attended a traditional Roka ceremony at the Shrinathji Temple in Nathdwara, Rajasthan.

Radhika is the CEO of Encore Healthcare, Viren Merchant’s daughter. She is from the Gujarati town of Kutch. She has been studying Bharatnatyam for eight years under Guru Bhavana Thakar of Shree Nibha Arts.

Radhika made headlines in June 2022 after the Ambani family hosted a grand Arangetram ceremony at the Jio World Centre. ‘Arangetram’ is a Tamil word that means a dancer ascending the stage after completing formal training.

It is the on-stage debut of a student of Indian classical dance and music after years of preparation.

Anant Ambani, the son of Nita and Mukesh Ambani, graduated from Brown University in the United States and has since worked for Reliance Industries in a variety of capacities, including as a member of the boards of Jio Platforms and Reliance Retail Ventures.

He currently oversees RIL’s energy division.
