Sidhu Moose Wala’s Father Joins in the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Punjab

Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead on May 29, in Punjab’s Mansa district.

The father of murdered Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala has joined the Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, which is currently on its Punjab leg. The party shared a video of Balkaur Singh Sidhu meeting Rahul Gandhi, the yatra’s leader, on Twitter.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also known as Sidhu Moose Wala, was shot dead on May 29, 2017, in Punjab’s Mansa district.

Goldy Brar, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang based in Canada, claimed responsibility for the murder. He was detained by US authorities last month. Mr. Singh was overjoyed with the news.

Previously, he urged the Union government to announce a reward of Rs 2 crore for any information leading to Goldy Brar’s arrest. He even offered to cover the cost of the reward out of his pocket.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra, which had  put on hold for 24 hours due to the death of Congress MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary, resumed today from Jalandhar’s Khalsa College Ground. Mr. Chaudhary died on Saturday after going into cardiac arrest while on the Yatra.

The Punjab leg of the march began on Wednesday in Fatehgarh Sahib with Sirhind. The yatra halted on Friday due to the Lohri festival.

The march, which started from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7, will conclude in Srinagar by January 30. Mr. Gandhi expected to hoist the national flag at a special program in Srinagar for which the Congress has invited the leaders of 21 opposition parties.
