In Assam, drugs worth Rs 7 crore seized, 3 people arrested


Three persons arrested after contraband drugs estimated worth around Rs 7 crore. Seized from two trucks in Assam, Karbi Anglong district, a police officer said on Friday

He said the arrests and seizures took place late Thursday night in the Khatkhati area near the Assam-Nagaland border.

According to the officer, vehicle checks conducted in the area, and two trucks intercepted based on a tip.

“We intercepted two trucks during the operation.” “We seized 30,000 Yaba tablets from a truck with a Nagaland registration number. as well as 757.15 gm of heroin packed in 55 soap cases from another truck with a Manipur registration plate,” he said.

The tablets and the heroin are worth around Rs 7 crore in the international market, he added.

Congratulating the police, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “#AssamAgainstDrugs Yet again a huge catch by @assampolice! @karbianglongpol police intercepted two trucks, which were coming from neighboring states, and seized 30,000 Yaba tablets & 55 soap cases containing 757.15 grams of Heroin. Also apprehended three accused. Good job.”

The arrested persons in Assam drugs case identified as Islam Uddin(29 years old), Md Samir(33 years old), and Md Manaobi(35 years old) and they are hailing from Manipur.
