The second ODI in Hamilton was called off on Sunday due to rain. Kane Williamson, the Kiwi captain, won the toss and chose to bat first.
The visitors had only played four overs when the game was called off due to rain.
After a four-hour rain delay, play resumed, but the match was reduced to 29 overs per side.

According to the new rules, there was supposed to be a 10-minute break between innings and no drinks break.
The match was called off when heavy rains returned in the 13th over. when India was batting at 89 runs for the loss of one wicket.
It is worth keeping in mind that a minimum of 20 overs have to be played by each side to conclude the match with a result.
At the second rain break, India was at 89/1 in 12.5 overs. Shubman Gill (45) and Suryakumar Yadav (34) are at the crease with an unbeaten 66-run partnership between them for the 2nd wicket.
Earlier, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss & opted to field first against India in the 2nd ODI. India is 1-0 down in the 3-match series and is in a must-win situation to keep their chances of winning the series alive. This match is being played at Heddon Park, Hamilton.
