Drishyam 2 performed admirably on its first Monday, with collections in the double digits.
The film has now grossed 76 crores after earning 11.87 crores on Monday. Abhishek Pathak directed the film, which stars Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, and Saurabh Shukla.
Taran Adarsh, a film trade analyst, shared the film’s day-by-day collections on Twitter “#Drishyam2’s winning streak continues… Day 4 [Mon] trends exceptionally well… reach double digits… Crosses 75 cr… Racing towards 100 million… #D2 is not slowing down anytime soon… Fri 15.38 million, Sat 21.59 million, Sun 27.17 million, and Mon 11.87 million. Total: 76.01 crore Business in India.”
He added in another tweet, “#Drishyam2 at national chains… Day 4 biz #PVR: 2.65 cr #INOX: 2.15 cr #Cinepolis: 1.13 cr Total: ₹ 5.93 cr Note: very strong hold on crucial Monday… Evening and night shows witnessed super growth.”
Nishikant Kamat, who died of liver cirrhosis in 2020, directed the first installment. Abhishek Pathak, who took over as director of Drishyam 2, told PTI in an interview that the team spent months developing a screenplay that would appeal to a wider audience. He wrote the screenplay with Aamil Keeyan Khan
“We wanted someone who understands what I’m trying to accomplish with this film.” Writing is the most important thing, and we should devote the most time to it. “After we finished writing, we talked with the team, including the DOP, about the treatment, mood, and energy of the shot,” he explained.
It is a remake of the 2021 Malayalam film of the same name, featuring Mohanlal in the lead role, and the sequel to the 2015 film Drishyam. Abhishek said, “people will find something new in the Hindi version”.
