The BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir has made it to the Australian book of records by baking the world’s largest eggless cake.
The news was shared on Twitter by the American High Commissioner to India, Barry O’Farrell AO, who wrote, “In a world first, #Sydney’s BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir has made it to the Australian Book of Records by baking the world’s largest eggless cake!” The cake, which was made by over 60 volunteers, stands 2.4 meters tall and 3 meters wide.”

The cake was designed in the shape of a traditional Hindu temple and weighed 1023.44kgs. It was displayed as part of Annakut puja, in which people offer a wide variety of delicacies to the lord on the first day of the Hindu New Year.
Over 60 BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir volunteers worked for 4300 hours to create the massive cake.
According to the official website of the American Book of Records, the cake was created to commemorate his holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s centennial since birth.
The ceremony and record presentation were held at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Sydney, Australia.
BAPS is an acronym that stands for Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha.
On the occasion of Annakut puja, devotees offer a variety of food items to the deity, representing the Govardhan Hill.
