Explosion at French military explosives maker injures several  – Casey Weekly

 Several people were injured in an explosion on Wednesday at the site of military explosives manufacturer Eulenco in Bergerac, southwestern France, local officials said.  

 The Dordogne department said in a statement that eight people were injured, including one with life-threatening injuries. The fire broke out around 2pm BST after the blast,  but officials said he had the situation  under control around 4pm BST.

According to the prefectural government, the explosion had no effect outside the scene. The company manufactures military explosives, propellants and propellants. It also manufactures civilian explosives. Bergerac mayor Jonathan Priorid told Reuters it was not yet known what caused the explosion, but it occurred in a section handling nitrocellulose. Rescuers remain at the scene, according to the Dordogne department.
