The Bharatiya Janata Party can soon announce the name of its candidate for the post of President. According to sources, BJP can make OBC or any woman its presidential candidate. OBCs and women have the highest representation in the country’s population. However, there are many theories in political circles like Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Castes (SC) or candidates from South India. The party will announce the name of the candidate only after exploring all the possibilities and keeping in view the 2024 parliamentary elections.

PM Modi has said on several occasions that women are the new vote bank of the BJP.

Amid the demand for a caste-based census, political parties know that OBCs constitute more than 40 per cent of the country’s total population, while women constitute almost half of India’s population. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said on several occasions that women are the new vote bank of the BJP.

Presidential Candidate : President Kovind belongs to the SC community

A party insider said that amidst all the social equations, the Presidential candidate from the SC community is unlikely as the current President Ram Nath Kovind belongs to this community. “This time the chances of giving a chance to a leader of the SC community are very slim,” he said. OBC and women are being preferred the most for the presidential candidate at this time.

OBC is a big force in all the states from Uttar Pradesh to Maharashtra.

In the recent Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections, the BJP receive overwhelming support from the community, despite some OBC leaders being out of the party. A senior party functionary said that almost all parties, including BJP’s ally JDU, have demand a caste-based census to win the confidence of the OBC community and by nominating the presidential candidate among them, the party will be able to vote in the next Lok Sabha elections and the upcoming state elections. It will be beneficial in elections.

A senior party functionary said –

‘Both women and OBCs independently form the largest share of voters in the country. The party will woo OBC women candidates either individually or together by nominating them for the post. At present, Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey, Tamil Nadu Governor Tamilisai Sundararajan and Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan are also among the probables. At the same time, the name of former Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu is also coming up for the BJP’s presidential candidate.
